On Tuesday, February 7, the US state of Louisiana was hit by powerful tornado. According to John Bel Edwards, Governor of the State, at least seven tornadoes descended on the south-eastern regions of Louisiana.
The consequences of the disaster were appalling: the broken buildings, cars, swept away by a hurricane, people, left without shelter. Due to the critical situation the state governor had to impose a state of emergency.
To date, there wasn't fixed any fatality due to the rampant disaster. However, the number of victims has reached twenty. Many of them were seriously injured and taken to hospital in serious condition.
Among the devastation, caused by a tornado in New Orleans are broken power lines and uprooted pillars. At least 15 thousand citizens and residents of nearby settlements were left without electricity.
In addition to New Orlean, the tornado touched Ascension, Livingston, St. James, St. Tammany and Tangipahoa parishes.
In Livingston Parish 7 houses were destroyed, two of which disappeared completely. According to the US meteorological centers in the state of Oklahoma, 2.7 million residents of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama are in risk zone.
An official at NASA's Michoud facility in New Orleans says it suffered some damage during Tuesday's tornado. Five employees received minor injuries, the help was provided to them. The agency clarified that the heavy equipment rocket Space Launch System, the ship Orion and Pegasus barge remained intact.
