Astrotourism is becoming more popular every year. People are willing to travel thousands of kilometers to admire the stars. But which places on Earth are considered the best for this? Let's find out now!
The year before last brought to many countries of the world not only positive but also negative moments. Some of them are connected to the starving population in the number of states. For example, according to UN representatives, residents of the Syrian city of Madaya were starving because of the blockade that occurred in October 2015.
At the moment, the Syrian authorities have allowed representatives of the UN to enter the territory of the country, and the residents of the city expect humanitarian assistance in the near future.
At present, over 795 million people in the world are starving. Hunger is the most significant worldwide problem, as it increases the risk to human health. The UN mission is to eliminate this problem. To date, the organization has achieved tangible results in the fight against hunger. In 2015, the number of hungry people in the world fell by 219 million people compared to the beginning of the 1990s.
However, on the planet, there is still a sufficient number of countries that are more at risk of hunger. As a rule, these are those states where there is an armed conflict, political instability, crisis, including climatic, or all the negative factors at once. Every fifth person, suffering from malnutrition, lives in an atmosphere of crisis or conflict.
According to the 2015 Global Hunger Index, there is a direct link between armed conflicts and hunger. According to Alex de Waal, one of the compilers of the index, the conflict is the main cause of constant hunger. Reality confirms the researcher's words: most of the countries with a high level of hunger are experiencing now or earlier faced with armed conflict on their territory.
The top places of the negative rating are occupied by two countries, where the hunger rate is high - the Central African Republic and Chad, where the population lives in conditions of instability for many years. Earlier, the alarm of the world community over the famine was caused by such countries as Burundi, Congo, Eritrea, Somalia, South Sudan and Sudan. They had a high-risk status on total malnutrition of the population.
Note that climate change and natural disasters also increased the risks and vulnerability of food supplies around the world. This exponentially increased the level of hunger. Millions of human lives are under the threat of climatic cataclysms. According to the World Food Program, the population of developing countries is the most vulnerable to these risks. The most vulnerable are in Africa and South-East Asia.
